Tenant panels, printed and cut in our shop

When a tenant moves in or out, the pylon or monument panel is usually the first sign to change. We print new faces on acrylic or aluminum, or printed vinyl for an existing face, and cut them to size in our Sun Valley shop, in colors and sizes that match the panels next to them.

In the City of Los Angeles, a new face or new copy in an existing cabinet usually needs no permit, as long as the cabinet stays. If the cabinet comes out, the sign needs a permit and must meet the current code (LADBS Sign Manual).

Pylon signs and refaces

Every sign at the property

Tenant panels are the start. Most properties also need some of these, and one request can cover all of them.

  • Directories and wayfinding

Lobby directories, suite signs and arrows that get visitors to the right door, made so they're easy to update when tenants change.
    Ask about wayfinding signage
  • Parking and property signs

Reserved and visitor parking, drop-off and directional signs in printed aluminum, made in our shop.
    Ask about custom parking signs

Sign criteria your tenants can actually follow

Sign criteria set what each tenant may put up: the sign type, the maximum size, letter height, colors, lighting, how it mounts and who may install it. Clear criteria make every new tenant sign quicker to approve, for you and for the city.

The order matters. Many centers' criteria ask for the landlord's signed approval before a tenant submits anything to the city, so your review is the first gate. We check each tenant's drawing against your criteria and against the city's sign code before it reaches your desk, so problems show up before you sign, not at the city counter.

Multi-tenant sign rules near Sun Valley

Multi-tenant properties often need a sign program or plan on top of each tenant's permit. Here's how the nearby cities handle it. General information, not an approval.

Property manager questions

Still deciding? Call (818) 806-9006 or text a photo and ask.

Does a new tenant panel need a permit?
In the City of LA, usually not: a new face or copy in an existing cabinet needs no permit as long as the cabinet stays. In Burbank, changing the copy of a permitted sign insert is exempt when nothing structural changes. Glendale and Pasadena properties may also have a sign program or Master Sign Plan to follow.
Can you match the panels already on our sign?
Yes. Send a close-up photo of the existing panels and their sizes. We match colors with printed vinyl, acrylic or paint, and confirm the colors with you before anything is printed.
Do you come out to the property?
On request, yes, in the San Fernando Valley, Burbank, Glendale and Pasadena. Pick "Yes, walk it with me" on the form, or ask when you call. Send the address first, so we can look at the signs and the city's rules before the visit. Farther out, we start from your photos and drawings.
Can tenants work with you directly?
Yes. A tenant can send us your sign criteria with their logo. We check their sign against the criteria, and you approve the drawing before it goes to the city. For a tenant's business sign, the first mockup and one round of changes are free, per location. Extra rounds are billed.
Can you review our existing sign criteria?
Yes. Send the PDF. We'll point out anything unclear and anything that may conflict with the current city sign code, so new tenants have fewer questions.
What is a Master Sign Plan in Pasadena?
A plan for all the signs on one property. Pasadena requires one at 6 or more non-residential tenants, or 6 or more signs for one use. Tenant signs then follow that plan. Glendale uses sign programs for multi-tenant sites in a similar way.
Who files permits and installs the signs?
A licensed sign-contractor partner. We design and fabricate the signs, prepare the drawings and coordinate the work. Your quote lists the installer's CSLB license number.
