What we do for each kind of team
-
General contractors
On a tenant improvement or a new build, each sign is usually its own permit and one of the last trades on site. Send the sign sheets from the plan set. We price the fabrication, return shop drawings for approval and set install dates with your superintendent; our licensed partner does the install. What an install quote spells out -
Architects and interior designers
Send design intent: elevations, finishes, mounting and lighting. Our shop drawings show how each sign is built and fixed to the wall. Where a detail won't build as drawn, like a serif too fine for the router, the shop drawing flags it with an option that will, before anything is cut.Lobby and interior signs -
Developers and owner's reps
Building ID, monument and pylon signs, lobby letters, directories and parking signs for a new or repositioned property. We read your draft sign criteria against the city's limits, so the criteria don't promise tenants more sign area than the code allows.Signs for property managers -
Multi-location brands and franchise teams
One brand standard, many addresses. Each site gets a mockup on a photo of that building, sized to what its city and landlord allow. Every site is built from the same approved colors and files. How a rollout works

Made in Sun Valley
Fabricated in our own shop
Angels Signs works out of the Angels Print shop at 8511 Lankershim Blvd, Sun Valley. Approved drawings become cut files and print files here, and the parts come off our CNC router, laser, flatbed cutter and UV and wide-format printers.
- Made here: printed acrylic, aluminum and PVC panels; routed and laser-cut letters and logos; cut and printed vinyl; channel letter faces, trim cap and LED layout.
- Scoped per job: channel letter returns, sign cabinets, structures and footings, and the electrical hookup. The bid says how each one is handled.
See every process on our sign manufacturing page.
Bring the drawings and see materials in person. Open daily 7 AM–10 PM; call ahead so the right person is there.

Rolling out a brand across LA locations
-
Sized to each wall
In the City of LA, a tenant can skip a full sign inventory of the lot by keeping its wall signs to 3 sq ft per foot of its own frontage. Under the standard street-frontage formula, channel letters get 20% more area if the background color doesn't change. Landlord criteria are often tighter. We size the standard to each wall. -
A mockup per location
Your sign on a photo of each building, so the brand team and each landlord approve the real facade. Free for business-sign requests: 1 mockup and 1 round of changes per location. Extra rounds are billed. -
The same colors at every site
Faces and vinyl for every location are printed and cut in one shop from one set of approved colors. Lit faces shift color at night, so we confirm lit colors with you before anything is cut. -
One sign schedule
Every site and every sign with its size in one list, so the brand team, the GC and each landlord work from the same page. -
Monuments at shared entrances
A City of LA monument sign stands 8 ft tall at most. All monument signs on a lot share 1.5 sq ft per foot of street frontage, and the face seen from one direction of traffic tops out at 75 sq ft. At a shared entrance, your panel has to fit the share the property has left. -
Rebrands and refaces
New faces for existing cabinets and pylon panels when the brand changes. In the City of LA, new copy in the same cabinet needs no permit; if the cabinet comes off, the new sign needs a permit and must meet current code.Pylon signs and tenant panels
Start with one site photo. Free: 1 mockup + 1 round of changes per location for business-sign requests. Extra rounds are billed.

Sign permits on commercial projects in LA
In the City of Los Angeles, a new sign, an alteration to an existing sign and a sign removal each need a permit; new copy in the same cabinet does not. Each sign usually gets its own “B” building permit application. Directional and information signs on one lot, window signs on one building, and old wall signs swapped for new ones on one building can share one application.
Most signs also need a sign pre-inspection (SPI) before plan check. Non-digital wall signs more than 2,000 ft from a freeway skip it, and smaller wall signs closer to a freeway can too.
The city wants a plot plan with every existing and proposed sign on the lot, plus elevations with each sign's height and size. On a multi-tenant building, the plan shows each tenant's wall-sign area and frontage width. Freestanding signs, wall signs of 100 sq ft or more, and signs attached to an unreinforced masonry (URM) building also need structural plans and calculations stamped by a licensed engineer or architect. We flag those in the bid.
Only a C-10 or C-45 licensed contractor can get a permit for a lit sign. Our shop draws the permit set; the licensed sign-contractor partner submits it. Other cities work differently: Pasadena, for example, requires a Master Sign Plan when a property has six or more non-residential tenant spaces.
