What business vehicle wraps cover

Business vehicle wraps come in four sizes of job. Cut vinyl lettering puts your name and number on the doors. Spot graphics add a logo or a printed panel to part of a side. A partial wrap prints over part of the body and lets the paint do the rest. A full wrap takes the whole painted body.

Reading time matters more than coverage. A driver beside you at a light, or a neighbor walking past a parked truck, gives it a few seconds. Company vehicle wraps that work in those seconds share one layout: the name big, the service in plain words, one phone number or website, and any license or CA number the law asks for, sized to read.

Company truck wraps in Los Angeles, box-truck sides for delivery routes and car graphics for a sales team all start the same way: photos of the vehicle, plus its year, make and model.

Wrap layouts are drawn to your exact model, then placed on your photos, so door handles, seams and windows land where they really are.

Lettering, partial wrap or full wrap?

If people only need your name and number, lettering does it. If the vehicle is your main ad in Los Angeles traffic, color and size are worth the extra film.

California rules

Lettering the law may require on a work vehicle

Some businesses have to carry specific lettering on their vehicles. Plan it into the design, so it fits the layout instead of being squeezed in later.

  • Plumbing (C-36), sign (C-45) and well-drilling (C-57) contractors: business name, address and license number on each side of every commercially registered vehicle, in letters at least 1 1/2 inches high.
  • All other licensed contractors: business name and license number on each commercially registered vehicle, in a clearly visible spot, in at least 72-point type or letters 3/4 inch high and wide.
  • Vehicles that carry property for hire, and other commercial motor vehicles: the operator's name or trademark on both sides, in sharp contrast to the background and readable from 50 feet in daylight. Carriers with a CA number show it on both sides too, unless the vehicle shows a valid USDOT number.
  • Windows: nothing goes on the windshield beyond small corner areas, or on the front side windows. Film can go on side windows behind the driver, and on the rear window when the vehicle has outside mirrors on both sides.

Information, not legal advice or an approval. Sources: CSLB Advertising Guidelines for Contractors and bulletin 20-21; Caltrans vehicle identification and CA number; California Vehicle Code 26708 and 34507.5. Tell us which numbers your vehicle has to carry, and we size them into the layout.

Vehicle wrap pricing: what changes the number

Custom vehicle wraps are priced from your vehicle and the coverage you pick, not from a list, so this page shows no prices. Coverage moves the number most. Door lettering on a pickup is a few feet of cut vinyl. A full wrap on a tall cargo van is printed film over every panel, plus the hours to fit it.

Body shape comes next. Flat box-truck sides are quick to lay out and cover, while ribbed cargo panels, deep recesses and tight curves take more film and more time. With several vehicles of one model, the approved layout is reused for each one instead of being redrawn.

Vehicle wrap questions

Still deciding? Call (818) 806-9006 or text a photo and ask.

Lettering, partial wrap or full wrap: which should I choose?
Start with what the vehicle has to do. A work truck that only needs to say who you are and how to reach you is covered by cut vinyl lettering. A van that is your main ad in traffic gets more from a partial wrap, which adds color and size on the panels people see most. A full wrap is for designs that use the entire body, or for a color change. Your mockup shows one option, and your one round of changes can try a second.
Do you do pickups, box trucks and cars, or only vans?
All of them. Pickups usually get cut vinyl on the doors and tailgate. A box truck's sides and roll-up door are big flat panels, so a printed panel there reads from far away. Business car wraps in Los Angeles, for sales and property teams, are usually door graphics or a partial wrap, because cars have more curves than vans. Running vans? See van wraps.
Can my vehicle match my storefront sign?
Yes. The van, the shop window and the sign over the door can share the same logo file and the same color references, so customers connect them at a glance. Tick both on the quote form: vehicle graphics plus a storefront sign or window graphics.
Who installs the graphics?
The graphics are designed, printed and cut in our Sun Valley shop. Every quote names the installer, the place and how long the vehicle will be off the road, so you can plan your crews around that day.
Will a wrap damage my paint?
On factory paint in good condition, removable film, taken off the way its maker specifies, is meant to come off without lifting the paint. Ask which film your quote uses. Paint that has been redone, chipped or sun-damaged is the weak point: it can come away when the film is peeled off later. Send close-ups of any paint damage with your photos. The cost guide explains when paint is at risk.
Can every vehicle in my fleet look the same?
Yes. One approved layout is fitted to each make and model, with the same logo size, colors and phone number, so mixed vehicles still look like one company. See fleet graphics.
Can I send my own design?
Yes. Vector files (AI, EPS, PDF or SVG) work best. We still fit the design to your exact model and show it on your photos, so nothing lands on a door handle or a seam before it is printed.
