Lit signs for walls and windows

LED Neon Business Signs in Los Angeles

Our neon business signs are LED neon: a flexible LED tube that glows like glass neon, fixed to a cut acrylic backer. We design each one around your logo and build it in our Sun Valley shop, from a script line for a dining-room wall to a lit sign for your front window.

Send a photo of the wall or window where it will hang. We place the sign on it at the proposed size. The first mockup and one round of changes are free for business-sign requests, per location. Extra rounds are billed.

What is an LED neon sign?

An LED neon sign is a row of small LEDs inside a soft silicone tube. The tube spreads the light into one smooth line, so from the front it reads like the glass neon on old Hollywood signs. The tube bends along your lettering and is fixed to a clear or colored acrylic backer, which hangs on the wall or in a window.

That makes custom logo neon signs practical for small businesses: they're light, they run on low-voltage power and a bump won't shatter them. Of all the custom LED signs for business, LED neon is the one made to be seen up close: behind a bar, over a front desk or in a window, where people stop long enough to look.

Mockup first

See the neon on your wall before it's built

Send a straight-on photo of the wall, window or fascia. We draw your sign on it at a proposed width, in the tube colors you pick, so you can tell whether the script reads from the door before any tube is cut.

Send a night photo too, and the mockup shows the sign switched on. The first mockup and one round of changes are free for business-sign requests, per location. Extra rounds are billed.

LED neon or glass neon?

Glass neon is the original: hand-bent glass tubes filled with gas. LED neon copies the look with a flexible tube. We build LED neon only. Here's how the two compare.
QuestionLED neon (what we build)Glass neon
How it lightsLEDs inside a silicone tube that spreads the light into one even line.Neon or argon gas inside glass tubes, bent by hand over a flame.
PowerLow-voltage DC from a power supply, usually 12 or 24 volts.A transformer that steps power up to thousands of volts.
If it gets bumpedThe tube flexes instead of cracking.Glass can crack, and a cracked tube goes dark.
The glowSmooth and even from the front. Most tube looks dimmer from the side.A full, round glow from every angle.

A general comparison of the two technologies. Brightness and power draw depend on the tube and power supply chosen for your sign.

How we build an LED neon sign

Four steps in our Sun Valley shop. Each one changes how the sign looks lit and how easy it is to hang.
  • Artwork to tube lines

We redraw your logo or lettering as single lines the tube can follow. Hairline strokes and small dots get simplified, and you see that in the mockup first.
  • Flexible LED tube

LED neon tube in the colors you pick, cut to length and bent along each line. One sign can mix several colors, such as a white name over a pink tagline.
  • Acrylic backer

Clear, colored or UV-printed acrylic, cut on our CNC router or laser to a rectangle or to the outline of the design. The tube is fixed to its face.
  • Power and mounting

A low-voltage power supply, plug-in or set up for hardwiring by a licensed contractor, with an optional dimmer. Standoffs hold it on a wall; cables hang it in a window or from a ceiling.

Where neon business signs work

Custom neon signs for Los Angeles businesses go where people pause: a bar stool, a salon chair, a sidewalk window at night.
  • Restaurants and bars

A name or a short line behind the bar or across the dining-room wall. Warm white keeps it calm; pink and red read as nightlife.
    Restaurant signs
  • Salons, spas and studios

A script logo over the mirrors or the front desk. Soft colors on a clear backer look light against painted walls.
  • Gyms

A slogan on the training-floor wall, sized to read from the far end of the room.
  • Shop windows

Your logo or a short line that reads from the sidewalk after dark. It shares the City of LA's window limit with your vinyl lettering.
    Window graphics
  • Offices and lobbies

A company line on a break-room or feature wall. For the main reception sign, halo-lit or dimensional letters often fit better.
    Lobby signs
  • Patios and covered entries

Outdoor neon signs under a patio cover or an awning, out of direct rain and midday sun. Lit signs on the building need a permit.

LA permit note

Neon in your window counts as a sign in Los Angeles

In the City of Los Angeles, any sign attached to, leaning against or within 6 feet of a window or door and visible from outside is a window sign. All window signs together may cover no more than 10% of the window area, and vinyl lettering and hours on the same glass count toward it.

A new sign needs a permit, and window signs aren't on the Sign Manual's list of signs that skip one. One application and one sign pre-inspection can cover all the window signs on the same building. Permits for lit signs are issued only to a C-10 or C-45 licensed contractor. Our licensed sign-contractor partner files the permit, and we prepare the drawings. Your quote lists the installer's CSLB license number.

Information, not an approval. A sign deep inside the room that can't be seen from outside isn't a window sign under that definition; tell us where yours will hang. Burbank, Glendale and Pasadena have their own rules. Read the Los Angeles sign permit guide or the LADBS Sign Manual (P/BC 2023-078).

Check My Address

In the City of LA, new, changed, removed and lit signs usually need a permit. A face change alone usually doesn't.

What a neon business sign usually costs

HomeAdvisor's national reference for a neon sign is $50 to $800, assuming the wiring and an outlet are already in place to plug it in. It doesn't list LED neon separately from glass neon. The same guide lists electrical wiring ($560 to $2,300) and a building permit ($400 to $2,500) as separate costs (HomeAdvisor, updated June 2026).

Those are national figures, not our price. A large logo, several tube colors, an outdoor build or a window sign that needs a permit all change the number. The real one comes from your photo and your artwork.

Neon business sign questions

Still deciding? Call (818) 806-9006 or text a photo and ask.

Do you make glass neon signs?
No. Every neon sign we make is LED neon: flexible LED tube on a cut acrylic backer. It gives the neon look without glass tubes or a high-voltage transformer.
Can LED neon follow my script logo?
Mostly. The tube can only bend so tight, so hairline strokes, small dots and tiny counters get simplified or drawn as a separate shape, and small lettering may need to grow. Your mockup shows the simplified version before anything is built.
Can LED neon match my brand colors?
Close, not always exact. LED neon tube comes in a set range of colors, so the mockup shows the nearest tube color beside your brand color. If the exact shade matters, a UV-printed backer can carry your brand colors by day while the tube glows in the closest match at night.
Does a neon sign in my window need a permit in Los Angeles?
Usually. The LADBS Sign Manual treats a sign within 6 feet of a window and visible from outside as a window sign, caps all window signs at 10% of the window, and lists no permit exception for them. Permits for lit signs go only to C-10 or C-45 licensed contractors: our licensed sign-contractor partner files it, and we prepare the drawings. Burbank, Glendale and Pasadena have their own rules. Information, not an approval.
Can neon business signs go outdoors?
Yes, as an outdoor build: tube, connections and power supply made for outdoor use. The best spot is under an awning or a patio cover, out of direct rain and midday sun. A lit sign on the outside of the building needs a city permit and a licensed installer. Your quote lists the installer's CSLB license number.
Plug-in or hardwired power?
Plug-in works when an outlet is close: the power supply sits on the cord, and you can switch the sign off at the wall. Hardwired hides the cord and the power supply, which looks cleaner on a feature wall or outside, and a licensed contractor connects it. Tell us where the nearest outlet is.
How big should my neon sign be?
Big enough to read from where people stand: the door, the sidewalk or the far end of the bar. Thin script needs more height than block letters to read from a distance. In a window, the City of LA's 10% limit sets the ceiling. Your mockup shows the proposed size on your own wall.
