What office signs cover
Office signs take a visitor from the building entrance to the right desk. With indoor business signs, a matching set matters more than any single piece: a black plaque next to a silver arrow looks like two different companies.
We design custom indoor signs for Los Angeles offices as one family, for law and accounting firms, medical and dental suites, real estate offices and shared floors from Van Nuys to Pasadena.

Lobby logo
Your name behind the front desk, in dimensional letters, an acrylic panel or halo-lit letters. It sets the look the rest of the set follows.Lobby signs -
Building directory
Tenants, suites and floors on one board by the entrance or the elevators. Fixed names, or one strip per tenant so a move-out doesn't mean a new board.Lobby directory boards -
Hallway arrows
Suite ranges and arrows at elevator lobbies and corridor corners: suites 101–124 this way, restrooms that way.Wayfinding signage -
Suite and door signs
A suite number at the entrance to your space, then office door signs for each room inside: names, titles, conference rooms, the break room.Door sign options -
Glass doors and walls
Your name and suite number in cut vinyl on the glass door, and frosted film on conference rooms and offices that need privacy.Window graphics -

Door and suite signs
Office door signs and suite plaques
A door sign answers one question: is this the right room? It hangs beside the door at eye level and is read from a step or two away. So it needs plain lettering, strong contrast and a finish that doesn't throw glare back from the ceiling lights.
Most custom office door signs are acrylic or aluminum composite panels. The lettering is UV-printed, cut in vinyl, or laser-cut from a second layer of acrylic for a raised look. Panels mount on metal standoffs, flat with sign-mounting tape, or as a two-layer plaque with a slot for a printed name strip. The suite sign at the entrance to your space is usually larger and carries your logo.
Fixed, changeable or on the glass?
| Door sign | Fixed plaque | Changeable name plate | Vinyl on the glass |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | One panel with the name or number printed, cut in vinyl or laser-cut on. | A two-layer plaque with a clear front. The name is a printed strip that slides in. | Cut or printed vinyl applied straight to a glass door or sidelight. |
| When a name changes | A new plaque. | A new strip. The plaque stays on the wall. | The old vinyl peels off and new lettering goes on. |
| A natural fit for | Suite numbers, firm names and rooms that won't change | Shared offices, exam rooms, co-working and staff who move | Glass-front offices and conference rooms |
A sign that names a permanent room, like a restroom or a room number, has its own accessibility rules. See the accessibility note below.

Buildings with more than one suite
Directories and hallway signs
In a building with more than a few suites, visitors need three answers in order: which floor, which way, which door. A directory in the main lobby answers the first. A floor directory facing the elevator answers the second, with suite ranges and arrows. The suite sign answers the third.
We design all three as one system, with the same typeface, colors and numbering, so nobody has to guess whether “Suite 210” and “210” are the same place. For whole buildings, campuses and parking structures, see wayfinding signage. Directory boards with changeable tenant strips are covered on the lobby signs page.
Accessibility note
Which office door signs need Braille?
The federal 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design sort office signs into three groups:
- Signs that name a permanent room or space, such as a restroom, a room number or a floor number: raised uppercase characters, duplicated in Braille (216.2, 703.2). At a door, it mounts on the latch side, and the baselines of the raised text sit between 48 and 60 inches above the floor (703.4).
- Signs that point the way or give information, such as a hallway arrow: a non-glare finish and characters that contrast with the background, without Braille (216.3, 703.5).
- Exempt from these sign rules: building directories, occupant names, and company names and logos (216.1).
A suite sign that shows both the suite number and your firm's name mixes two groups: the number is a permanent designation, the name is not. One common answer is two pieces: a tactile room sign by the latch, and a name plate or glass lettering that's easy to swap.
Information, not an approval. Your architect or building manager confirms which federal and California rules apply to each door.
Put doors that need raised letters and Braille on a separate line. Your quote says whether they're included.
What moves the price of office signs
One acrylic plaque and a 40-door building package are different jobs. Published price ranges for office signs mix the two, so we don't show one here. Five things move the number:
- How many signs, and how many are alike. Twenty door signs in one layout usually cost less each than twenty different designs.
- The build. A printed flat panel costs less than layered or laser-cut acrylic, and a fixed plaque less than a two-layer changeable one.
- Size. Suite signs and directories use far more material than door plaques.
- Matching what's there. Copying an existing building standard can mean sampling colors and lettering first.
- Installation. How many floors, the wall surfaces, and whether the building only allows work after hours.

- Your logo file (AI, EPS, PDF or SVG if you have one)
- Photos of any existing signs the new ones should match
- The building's sign standards, if the property manager has them
- The wall and door surfaces: drywall, glass, wood or tile
- The address and the floor

Made in Sun Valley
Plaques, panels and glass lettering made on Lankershim
Door plaques, suite numbers and directory panels for your office are routed, laser-cut and UV-printed, and glass lettering is cut from vinyl, at Angels Print, 8511 Lankershim Blvd in Sun Valley. Every piece is laid out in one file before cutting, so the suite number by the elevator and the plaque on the last door share the same color, the same typeface and the same corner radius.
Looking for an interior sign company in Los Angeles you can visit? Bring a plaque you need to match, or come hold acrylic and letter samples up to a photo of your hallway. We're open daily, 7 AM to 10 PM. Call ahead so the right person is there.
