Custom Parking Signs in Los Angeles

Custom parking signs for Los Angeles lots, garages and driveways: reserved spaces, customer parking, no-parking, tow-away, arrows and lot rules. We print them on aluminum in our Sun Valley shop with your wording, logo and colors. Installation is by a licensed sign-contractor partner.

Tell us how many signs and what each one should say. A photo of the lot helps. The first mockup and one round of changes are free for business-sign requests, per location. Extra rounds are billed.

Custom parking signs we make

Start with the kind of sign. A typical lot needs a few of these, and you can list them all in one request.

How aluminum parking signs are built

Four choices set how a parking sign reads from a car, how it weathers and how it mounts.
  • Aluminum panel

Sheet aluminum won't rust, stays flat in the sun and takes a bolt at the post. Larger entrance and rules signs can use aluminum composite (two thin aluminum skins over a solid core), which stays rigid without the weight.
  • Lettering and logo

UV ink printed directly on the panel for full-color logos and small type, or one-color letters cut from vinyl. A whole set comes out in your brand colors.
  • Size

12 × 18 in is a common size for a sign at the head of a space, read from the driver's seat. Entrance and rules signs carry more words, so they run larger. Tow-away signs have a legal minimum size: see the rules below.
  • Mounting

Holes placed for a post, a wall or a fence. Posts, bases and anchors are listed in your quote, so you can see how each sign goes up before you order.

Lots and garages

One sign plan for the whole lot

Drivers read a lot in order: the entrance from the street, the arrows to the right row, the sign at their space, then the rules on the way out. Custom parking lot signs that share one layout, one typeface and your colors are quicker to read, and the lot looks cared for.

For a whole property, send a site plan or a few phone photos with an X where each sign goes. We turn that into a sign list with the wording, size and mounting of each sign, and the quote is priced from the same list. Property managers can fold parking signs into a property sign review along with tenant panels and directories.

A site plan or phone photos with each spot marked is enough. No payment details.

Wayfinding signage for buildings

Who orders custom parking lot signs

Parking signs are usually ordered by whoever runs the lot. Here's what each kind of property tends to need.
  • Property managers and HOAs

Reserved and guest spaces, assigned spaces by unit number, gate and garage signs, and the rules at every entrance. One request can cover several properties.
    Signs for property managers
  • Retail centers and restaurants

Customer-only spaces, curbside pickup and time limits, so a shared lot doesn't fill up with the customers of the business next door.
    Restaurant signs
  • Offices and medical buildings

Reserved spaces for staff, visitor parking close to the door, and a patient drop-off zone at the entrance.
    Medical office signs
  • Auto shops and service businesses

Customer drop-off, employees only, and no-parking in front of the service bays and the gate.
  • Warehouses and light industrial

Truck routes, aluminum no parking signs at loading docks, visitor check-in and safety signs where forklifts work.
  • Churches and schools

Staff and visitor parking, drop-off and pickup lanes, and arrows that keep traffic moving on busy days.

Made in Sun Valley

Parking signs printed and cut in our shop

Custom aluminum parking signs are made at Angels Print, 8511 Lankershim Blvd in Sun Valley: UV printing directly on the aluminum, cut vinyl lettering, and panels cut to size. Order the whole set together, and every sign is printed from the same approved files.

Want to see aluminum and vinyl samples, or match a faded sign you already have? Bring it to the shop. We're open daily, 7 AM to 10 PM; call first so the right person is on hand.

What moves the price of parking signs

One reserved-space sign and a full sign plan for a 200-space lot are different jobs, and published price lists mix stock signs with custom work, so no range is quoted on this page. What sets the number:

  • Repeats. A run of signs with one layout, where only the name or space number changes, is set up once.
  • Size and panel. Larger rules and entrance signs use more material, and some need rigid aluminum composite.
  • Print and sides. Full-color logos, cut vinyl, and whether a sign is read from one side or both.
  • Mounting. New posts in concrete, bases bolted to a slab, or flat on a wall or fence you already have.
  • The site. How many posts, asphalt or concrete, and whether the lot stays open while the signs go up.

What a complete quote includes

Installation

Posts, walls and fences: who puts the signs up

Our licensed sign-contractor partner installs parking signs: on new posts set in concrete, on bases bolted to a slab, on posts already in the lot, or flat on a wall or fence. Your quote lists the installer's CSLB license number, how each sign mounts and what the site work includes.

Putting the signs up yourself on a wall or fence you already have? Leave installation unticked on the form, and the quote can cover the signs only.

What we need for a quote

A sign list and some photos of the lot get it started. If something's missing, we ask.

Parking sign questions

Still deciding? Call (818) 806-9006 or text a photo and ask.

What size should a parking sign be?
Reading distance decides it. A stall sign is read from the driver's seat a few feet away, so 12 × 18 in is a common choice. Entrance and rules signs are read from a moving car and carry more words, so they run larger. A tow-away sign at the entrances of a private lot must be at least 17 × 22 in, with letters at least 1 in tall (California Vehicle Code §22658). Tell us where each sign goes, and we propose a size.
Why aluminum instead of plastic?
A parking sign is meant to stay outside on a post. Aluminum won't rust or crack at the bolt holes, and it doesn't sag in summer heat the way thin plastic can. Need a sign for a few weeks? PVC, foam board and yard signs are printed by Angels Print, in the same building.
Can you make tow-away and no-parking signs?
Yes. We print the wording, phone numbers and towing company names you give us; your property manager or towing company supplies the exact text. California Vehicle Code §22658 sets what the sign at each entrance of a private lot must say, summarized above. We print the text as supplied and don't certify that a lot complies.
Do you make accessible parking signs?
Put them on your list with the wording your architect or property manager confirms. Federal and California rules set the symbol, the “Minimum Fine $250” line, the height of the sign and a reflectorized face (summary above). Your quote names the finish of each sign, so it can be checked against the code before anything is printed.
Do parking signs need a city permit in Los Angeles?
Small post signs often don't. The LADBS Sign Manual (P/BC 2023-078) exempts a ground sign up to 20 sq ft that tops out at 6 ft 6 in or lower, with no lighting, power or moving parts, when signs like it are spaced 15 ft or more apart. That spacing matters for a sign at every stall in a row. Wall-mounted signs, bigger entrance signs and anything lit fall outside the exemption, and Burbank, Glendale and Pasadena have their own rules. Information, not an approval. More in the LA sign permit guide.
Can the signs carry our logo and colors?
Yes. Full-color logos are UV-printed on the aluminum, and one-color lettering can be cut vinyl. You approve the layout before anything is printed. A vector logo file (AI, EPS, PDF or SVG) gives the sharpest result.
Who puts the signs up?
A licensed sign-contractor partner, on posts, bases, walls or fences. Your quote lists the installer's CSLB license number. If you'd rather mount the signs yourself on a wall or fence you already have, the quote can cover the signs only.
